STEDTRAIN encourages and supports the development of the next generation of Tennessee Valley scientists, engineers, and technical professionals by providing local educators with funding to conduct innovative, hands-on STEM programs in their classrooms.
These funds are called "Seed Grants" because they are intended to "seed" the students' enthusiasm for science and technology while also encouraging them to pursue technology-oriented higher education opportunities and careers.Tax-deductible donations from forward-looking companies, professional societies, and individuals in the community enable STEDTRAIN.
The STEDTRAIN Committee operates as a committee of the Huntsville Association of Technical Societies. All donations need to be processed through the parent corporation. HATS is a 501(c)3 charitable non-profit corporation, so donations may be tax deductible.
As a small organization with less than $50k in annual revenue, HATS files an annual IRS form 990N. While our 990N reports are available upon request as required by law, the financial information included in the 990N report may not be sufficiently detailed for some potential donors considering making donations to the HATS STEDTRAIN Seed Grant program, so we provide annual Seed Grant cycle reports.
HATS is listed on Charity Navigator, the nation's largest and most-used charity evaluator, but has not been assigned an Encompass Rating because the organization does not file a full IRS form 990s.

Sponsorships
Some organizations prefer to purchase sponsorships vice making open ended, non-specific donations. For that reason, we do offer sponsorships. STEDTRAIN will acknowledge sponsors for specific Seed Grants, and teachers will be asked to identify sponsors of their Seed Grants. Sponsorships will be assigned by the Committee. We do not allow sponsors to pick specific Seed Grants.Platinum Level Sponsorship

- Minimum $2,500 donation

To maximize your donation, you can us send a check. 100% of your donation will go to the STEDTRAIN Seed Grant program. HATS and the STEDTRAIN committee are an all-volunteer organization, so there are no administrative fees.Donors should make the checks payable to:

Note either in the Memo section of the check or with a separate note that the donation is for STEDTRAIN. HATS does have other programs, and we don't want the money credited to the wrong account.

You may choose to donate using either your credit card or your PayPal account. We are registered as a non-profit organization with PayPal, which gives us a discount on their processing fees. PayPal charges us 2.2% of the transaction plus $0.30. HATS and the STEDTRAIN committee are an all volunteer organization, approximately 97.8% of your donation will go the STEDTRAIN Seed Grant program.Make sure you select STEDTRAIN in the optional “Use this donation for” dropdown menu of the PayPal form as shown below.
